This bell grabbed my attention the other night when walking through downtown, and I thought that I would try to come back another day at sunset. It belongs to the Main Street Baptist Church in Georgetown. I’m not sure if it rings or not, and I think it has seen better days.
I think I have crossed this bridge a billion times (well, maybe not that much), and if I am lucky, I will cross it a billion more. Now I think they built it to keep people like me from tromping on the wildflowers and dandelions. 🙂
Texas deer like to tease you. They are all like, “Here we are. Come take our photo while we munch on some tasty grass.” Then they run away laughing at you and your blurry collection of “wildlife” photos.
In my world, it has been raining for two days straight. This is mostly awesome, unless the heavy rains try their best to wake you up in the middle of the night. Luckily, one of my super powers is sleeping.
As a result of the heavy rains, the San Gabriel River is flowing strongly. While walking this evening, I took a few photos to give you an idea of what things looked like. I will also leave you with a quote to think about.
I liked the following description from the Native Plant Society of Texas (I hope I have the correct tree).
“The fruits are flat, circular and papery wafer-like samaras. They occur in drooping clusters, are retained well into winter and wave in the wind with an audible rattle.”
The samara has a flattened wing of papery tissue that allows the wind to carry the seed. As it turns out, it also allows for nice photos at sunset near the 3/4 mile marker on some walking path. 🙂
There is one major requirement for a lovely sunset – sun! After about 360 days of cold, cloudy, overcast, rainy weather in the Austin area (it seemed like that long, but I lost count), the sun finally returned to warm us up. We all thought we had moved to Seattle. Hooray sun!!! Please come back tomorrow. 🙂

Ever feel like a kite caught in a tree? Like one very bad day in life, and then you got stuck where you are? Physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually immobilized. Maybe waiting for a fortuitous breeze to come along and lift you out of your unfortunate situation. Maybe hoping for a kind soul to come to your rescue. Perhaps someone who can mend the broken parts, patch some holes, and help you get back aloft. Knowing that you can still fly. Aware that you are able to soar.
Going to the movie theater on Christmas Day is like taking your own life into your hands. There was an extra army to battle. 🙂
