If you follow the road from Nelson Ghost Town towards the Colorado River, you will reach a spot with views of the El Dorado Canyon. I arrived at dusk which made for less than perfect photos, but you can get an idea of what the area looks like. I hope to return again for some hiking, swimming, and exploring.
I think this is what surprised me the most about my trip to Nelson Ghost Town. I was not expecting such beautiful desert views. This place does not disappoint. If you are in Vegas, this is a most worthy day trip.
This may be the primary reason that photographers find this place alluring. While I was there, there was a wedding session and a fashion session in progress. They loved the barn and the historic items to be found throughout the property.
Besides the history available at Nelson Ghost Town, they also are cultivating a very nice Cactus Garden.
There is no shortage of awesome trucks and other creative vehicles at Nelson Ghost Town. It makes you wonder how they gathered this collection.
Just beyond the town of Nelson, you can discover Nelson Ghost Town. This spot is a former Texaco gas station, just north of the Techatticup Mine which is open for tours. The signs at the Ghost Town ask you to check in at the store, but there wasn’t much activity when I visited. Just beyond the store and its artifacts, you can find a plane crash that has been previously used as a movie set. It is a beautiful spot for photos.
At the end of the LINQ Promenade you can view or ride the High Roller. At 550 feet tall, this is the world’s tallest observation wheel.
Such a beautiful art installation. If you find yourself near Las Vegas, get out and see it.
