Train Encounters

I decided to take the train downtown tonight. It put me close to the event I was going to attend, but I still had some walking to do in the cold, windy weather. As I made my way around on the East side, I met the train again at a crossing. It was a night of train encounters. 🙂

Taylor Train Station

The Taylor Train Station is a good place to catch a sunset and to wait for your train to arrive. The train tracks run parallel to Highway 79, and on your way to Taylor, you may get the opportunity to race a train locomotive that is pulling several rail cars behind it.

Model Train Show

It is time for the Holiday Model Train Show at ArtSpace in Downtown Round Rock. It is a series of dioramas surrounded by train tracks. For a $5.00 donation, you can control one of the many trains circling the exhibits. For some reason, this entertains me for long periods of time. Check it out if you find yourself in Round Rock for the Holidays.

One of the best parts of summer around here is to float one of our beautiful rivers. I returned to the San Marcos River and rented my tube from Lions Club Tube Rental and River Shuttle Service. This trip is about an hour long float and ends at a set of rapids. Super fun!
