The vulture babies have almost grown up. One of them has already grown taller than the parent. They are shedding their fluffy parts for real feathers, and soon they will learn to fly so they can take off on adventures of their own.

Mayfield Nature Preserve – Gardens
The Mayfield Nature Preserve is home to the Mayfield-Gutsch Estate, and they take pride in their gardens. In 1971, Mary Mayfield-Gutsch left the Estate to the City of Austin for use as a park. There are several volunteer gardens to see, along with a few lily pad ponds and an old dinner bell that hangs from an archway in the stone wall.

Passport Greece
So, for one more day, Central Market is celebrating Greece with an event called “Passport Greece“. Many items in the store are there as a link to the Greek culture. I had the Chicken Souvlaki Gyros for dinner, and then went for a short walk around the park out back. There, I got to hang out with the trees, ducks, turtles, and clouds.

La Fiesta
This bronze sculpture called “La Fiesta” by Dan Pogue, can be found just in front of the Round Rock Public Library. It is a pretty fun piece of art, and it can be yours for a small price. 🙂
Woodlands Park
I am relaxing near the Colorado River at a little known section of Woodlands Park. The main part of the park has some nice facilities, but if you wander towards the lake and cross a small bridge, you will find a peaceful place on the river. Picnic tables, cool breezes, shady trees, watercraft passing by, and a nice view are all to be discovered and enjoyed here. If you need one of the best stair climbing trail workouts in Austin, then check out the River Place Nature Trail, just across the street. I haven’t hiked that one in a while, so I need to return soon on a non-relaxing day to take on its challenges.
