After being amazed by the story of the Monk Parakeets, I struck out on a walk around The Triangle. I was pleasantly surprised to find that things were in bloom.

Happy Valentine’s DayÂ
Austin Community College
I took a short walk around Austin Community College in Round Rock before it got too cold and too dark. The water tower caught my attention at dusk.
The Secret
I have discovered that the secret to good photography is to place a sunrise or a sunset behind just about anything. Or to photograph cute babies or cuddly critters, but I am not very good at that. Now, if you can place a sunset behind a cuddly critter, then you can apply for a gig at National Geographic. 🙂
Train Encounters
Pollen Grain
Before the sun began to set and the cold temperatures hit, I took a walk through Mueller. This sculpture called “Pollen Grain” by Chris Levack has always been one of my favorites. You can walk beneath it on the trail if you select the right path.

Below the Dam
As the sun began its early descent, I embarked down the hill below the North San Gabriel Dam. This is a nice, paved trail that takes you to the base of the Dam where the rushing water outlet allows the San Gabriel River to continue on its path through Georgetown. When the days are longer, I will return to explore more of this area.
Citizen Alert…
Hello citizens of Austin. If you have lost your cuddly lion toy, it can now be found on the South side of Town Lake just before you step onto the new Boardwalk Trail, as some kind soul has placed it on a wall for safe keeping. As a secondary alert, the rains are over for now and sunny weather is predicted for the trail for today and tomorrow.
