The Saucy Rooster

There is a new restaurant in town, and as you can see, they have some nice macaroni and cheese, fried okra, and chicken with gravy.  It is a tiny joint located just off the freeway and named The Saucy Rooster Chicken Company.  If you find yourself in Round Rock, check out the menu and see if there is something you might like to try.

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken

Some pretty yummy chicken can be found at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken.  One of the most casual joints in downtown Austin.  My dinner consisted of chicken tenders, baked beans, mac & cheese, sweet tea, chocolate chess pie, and vanilla Blue Bell ice cream.  A perfect Southern meal.

Cuba Bakery & Cafe

Today’s lunchtime mission was to get some empanadas.  According to Wikipedia, “Cuban empanadas are typically filled with seasoned meats (usually ground beef or chicken), folded into dough, and deep-fried.”  That was the case at Cuba Bakery & Cafe in Round Rock.  In the third picture you can see the state of the empanadas in the display case after my friend and I got our orders.  We almost cleaned them out of the chicken and beef ones.  Now we just need to time our assault so that we arrive as they are just coming out of the oven.  Yummy!
