At one public garden in Georgetown, the Passion Flowers are blooming like crazy. I stopped by here before my walk this evening.

Quilt
I am back at the Georgetown Public Library again, and I wanted to share one of the quilts on display. It is called “Red Poppies of Georgetown” and was made by the San Gabriel Quilters to help celebrate the Georgetown Sesquicentennial in 1998. I hope you like it.

Donkeys
The other cool thing about Berry Creek Park and Preserve is that they have two donkeys. They have a large corral for them with lots of hay and water. While I was there, a family with small children came up and fed them. The donkeys came to the fence to check me out and one of them allowed me to pet him. That was nice of him. 🙂
Flowers and Snake
I saw tons of cool stuff while walking at sunset today at Berry Creek Park and Preserve. The hiking trails have both beauty and danger, so beware! I’m not sure what kind of snake that was on the side of the trail, but lucky for me he had a full belly (check the bulge in the picture) and was too lethargic to be bothered with humans. He totally caught me by surprise! I took a quick photo and moved on.
Berry Springs – Trail Map
I found a new spot in Georgetown for walking. It is called Berry Springs Park and Preserve and it is located just north of town where the toll road meets I35. Below is a photo of the trail map to give you an idea of how the park is laid out.
Models
This afternoon, I am back at the Georgetown Public Library to explore some more and to kill some time before going for a long walk. I found a collection of models to photograph. According to the placard, “John M. Barcus, a former Georgetown resident who died in 1976 at age 85, built these models between 1969 and 1973. He donated them to the Georgetown Public Library in 1973 when he moved to San Benito to live with his daughter.” I hope you like them.
International Coffee Day
Yes, today is International Coffee Day and I am celebrating by drinking a beverage (not coffee) at Cianfrani Coffee Company in Georgetown, Texas. I already had too much coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts earlier today. It may not be too late for you, depending on where you find yourself today – “On 9/29, get a free medium Hot Dark Roast Coffee in honor of America’s favorite holiday.” Happy celebrating!
