The Travis County Expo Center has a nice hilltop view of downtown Austin. The following set of photos will let you know what it is like to participate in the Music Run. Me and my bad knee cheated and walked the course tonight. This is a wonderful event and you should join in if it shows up in your town. My only regret was that I didn’t get a better photo of the Left Shark. I showed up early, had lots of fun, and was one of the last people to leave.

Hot Rods and Hatters
The Hot Rods and Hatters put on a great car show in the square of downtown Lockhart today. The sun was out in full force and made for some interesting photos. There were tons of classic cars, booths, people and bands to enjoy. As you can probably tell from the photos, I am partial to the Ford Mustangs. 🙂
ANY
ANY = Austin’s New Year. The city threw a pretty cool party this evening at Auditorium Shores. There were bands (including two of my favorite Austin bands – Vallejo and the Flying Balalaika Brothers), art, decorated bicycles, food trucks, and nice views of downtown. Thanks for the party Austin. We will see you next year. 🙂
Elephant Room II
My favorite jazz bar was open for Christmas Night, so I stepped into the basement bar and enjoyed some great music. The best part of the evening was when they had a tap dancer on stage to tap away during one of the jazz tunes. The main performer, Alex Coke, was in town from Amsterdam and he played the flute, bass flute, and soprano sax. A very fun night!
Peligrosa
Thanks to the Red Bull Music Academy for hosting several DJs and bands tonight. The event was fun, and Empire Control Room is a venue that reminds me of old Austin. No frills, outdoor stages, and a super relaxed atmosphere that just allows the party to flow as it needs to.
Wurstfest
Here are a series of walking around photos from Wurstfest in New Braunfels. This is one of my favorite festivals of the year – music, food, drinks, costumes, and too much fun for one place.
DÃa de los Muertos
Ozomatli
On this warm, humid, rainy night, the F1 race party came to town. The highlight of the party was the band called Ozomatli. They are known as a fun jam band that hops off the stage with their horns and their drums, and joins the crowd near the end of their show. That is when the party really gets started.
Daytime Walk
International Music FestivalÂ
I saw four great bands today at the International Music Festival put on by the Texas Music Museum.
- Indrajit Banerjee and Sri Gourisankar – Indian Music
- Kunitan – Andean Music
- Batuque Raiz – Brazilian Music
- Flying Balalaika Brothers – Russian Music
I was surprised to discover that the two gentlemen playing the sitar and tabla were my favorite music of the afternoon. You can find them on the Internet and YouTube if you are interested in hearing their music.
