Bribery Bakery

Today’s lunch was consumed at Bribery Bakery.  This place is unique in the area, as they do not have a set menu, but serve up the daily choices from their glass case.  The selection of desserts is very extensive and very yummy!  My lunch consisted of a turkey and guacamole sandwich, a chocolate and caramel cream pie, and an iced coffee.  It was all great.  If you find yourself in the area, and are in need of some snacking, then check it out!  Today, they were busy baking up a storm for Mother’s Day on Sunday.

Royers Pie Haven

What better to eat on a cool, rainy day than some pie? My destination was Royers Pie Haven near the University of Texas campus. The pie slices were yummy (although a bit small for a filling lunch). No problems, I’ll just order two – the Margherita Chicken Pizza Pie and the Chicken Pot Pie. The staff is so sweet, they decided I also needed a complementary tiny slice of Ann’s Pecan Pie for dessert. Their little pie shop is a busy one, and I can see why.

Australia Day – Pie Eating Contest

2015/01/img_3606.jpg

The highlight of the day was Boomerang’s and their food truck full of meat pies. I had a couple of Southwest Chicken pies to support their cause. I should have entered the Pie Eating Contest to get a free one on the sly. 🙂

Texan Cafe

For lunch today, we headed over to the Texan Cafe in Hutto. My friends got chicken fried steaks and I got the chicken fried chicken with niblet corn, fried okra, and iced tea. As you can see from the menu board, this place is pretty Texas. But the best part is the pies – yes, the pies! What place do you know of that has a pie happy hour? The Texan Cafe has that. From a fully stocked pie case, I chose the Snickers Pie and it was totally yummy. We paid for our food, waddled out of the place and I was unsuccessful in getting a photo of my friends on top of the Hutto Hippo (the town mascot). Next time… 🙂
