It is time for a trip back to Mellow Mushroom. On this cloudy, slightly windy, yet beautiful evening, I ordered the Funky Q. Chicken. It is described on the menu as “BBQ chicken, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, caramelized onions, and Applewood smoked bacon. Finished with a bbq sauce swirl.” These combinations made for a good pizza on the patio.

The Mighty Thomas Carnival
What a beautiful evening for The Mighty Thomas Carnival to set up shop in the Dell Diamond parking lot! 🙂
Old Settlers Park
I took it easy today. There was a nice walk through Old Settlers Park with soccer fields, model airplanes, and bluebonnet fields.
Hurricane Grill and Wings
What do you do when one of the managers at work gets a new role and won’t be working with your Team any longer? You tag along with everyone for happy hour at Hurricane Grill and Wings and have fun chatting about the good times.
Freshly Hatched
This parent has just hatched two baby vultures. If you look closely, you can see the remnants of egg shells. As you may have read on my blog before, the Vulture family returns to this spot every year to increase their numbers. It is in a protected cove just outside a conference room with dusty windows. If you are quiet, you can watch and study the vultures behavior without disturbing them. Do you think the babies are cute?
Paintbrush
Oh my! This field was so beautiful! I tiptoed around the edges, making sure not to squash any wildflowers. When I found a plant that was photo worthy, I dropped to the ground and put my little camera to work, getting grass stains on my knees. No flowers were harmed during the process. Then the sun began to fall in behind everything as the breezes started to die down. Bluebonnets are groovy, but the Indian Paintbrushes in this field were the best. Not to mention the friendly ladybug. 🙂

Mellow MushroomÂ
Today’s lunch with friends was at Mellow Mushroom. We ordered three different small pizzas so we could each sample some of the goods. My favorite one was called “Magical Mystery Tour” and it included “Pesto base with button and Portobello mushrooms, feta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach and jalapeños on a pesto basted crust.” It was so delicious that it was gone before it could be photographed for posterity. Don’t worry, I will be returning to this pizza joint again soon.
