Mad Tiger Festival – Mueller Lake Park

IMG_4197

Since the City of Austin cancelled the New Year Celebration in January due to inclement weather, they made it up to us today by having the Mad Tiger Festival.  Pretty much an awesome welcome to Spring with fun bands at the Mueller Lake Park.  As a secret to you Internet Friends in Austin, check the website for two more events still to come at the Thinkery.

SXSW – Make Some Noise

IMG_4145

I walked through Rainey Street (appropriately named for tonight’s weather) and went to the Neiman Marcus Make Some Noise party at 78 Rainey Street.  It ended quickly after I arrived, but I did get to see the end of the set for Marina and the Diamonds.  It was a good start to a very wet evening.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day

IMG_4122

I went to a relatively small and calm celebration for Saint Patrick’s Day at the Shoal Crossing Event Center this evening.  There was music and drinks on the inside, and music, dancing, drinks, and food on the outside.  If you ever have the chance to see the Inishfree Austin Irish Dancers or the Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums, then please take advantage of it.  They both put on great performances tonight!

SXSW – Try Swedish

IMG_4099

Tonight’s SXSW entertainment was supplied by Try Swedish and Threadgill’s down on Riverside.  There was plenty of food, drinks, live music, and friendly people from Sweden.  My favorite band from Sweden tonight was The Magnettes.  They wore all white and rocked the place with their infectious energy and attitude.

SXSW – French Legation Museum

IMG_4091

The French Legation Museum is hosting several SXSW events hosted by Le French Tech Club throughout the week.  If you haven’t been, the Museum is a historic mansion and grounds on a hill on the East side of Downtown Austin.  It has several gardens, lots of art, and a perfect small, grassy hill for holding events.  My favorite event was the performance by Thylacine (William Rezé).  He is a super talented EDM performer, and I loved the part of his set where he played the saxophone along with his musical creations.  I hope to see him again sometime soon.
