Strength

IMG_0384

The inspirational word of the day is “Strength”.  Yes, I am guilty of hitting up the Art*o*mat again.  The Little Inspirations series is a creation of Nicole Arnold.  I was looking for an earth shattering inspiration, but will make do with this simple one.  This one is appropriate for me since I sat through some more crazy dental procedures today.  I will need some strength for the next few days as the pain slowly subsides.  :-/

ANY

IMG_0293-1

ANY = Austin’s New Year.  The city threw a pretty cool party this evening at Auditorium Shores.  There were bands (including two of my favorite Austin bands – Vallejo and the Flying Balalaika Brothers), art, decorated bicycles, food trucks, and nice views of downtown.  Thanks for the party Austin.  We will see you next year. 🙂

Skatepark Fundraiser

IMG_0038

My real reason for visiting Taylor, Texas today was the Skatepark Fundraiser put on by Project Loop.  Over 150 artists contributed art on skateboards to help raise money for the kids of Taylor to build a skatepark.  What an innovative way to put some funds together!  The favorite skateboard art amongst the younger set was the “Operation” skateboard that lit up the patient’s red nose when the operation hit the guard rails.  I had to fight the kids to get a photo of that board.  My personal favorite was the moon man jumping asteroid craters.  “SK8 or DONT”  ðŸ™‚

Frank Reaugh – Landscapes of Texas and the American West

IMG_6599

Frank Reaugh led a very interesting life.  His passion was documenting the Southwest by using pastels and paint.  The exhibit at the Harry Ransom Center had several of his art pieces on display.  Just imagine getting the chance to travel with him and watch his plein air process of painting the countryside and animals in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

100 Pizzitas

IMG_6505

Here is an interesting concept for a restaurant.  Pizzas treated as tapas.  100 Pizzitas also has several full blown pizzas to choose from if you prefer not to sample some of the 100 different 6.5″ sized ones.  My favorite tonight was number 59 – Provolone cheese, bacon, York ham, mushroom & cream.  There is also a view of the Texas State Capitol building from the patio to enjoy.
