It was a nice, cloudy, cool day in Austin for the AVP to have their finals. The women’s and men’s favorites won their matches as the packed stadium cheered them on. April Ross and Whitney Pavlik won $15,000 in the women’s bracket, and Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena did the same in the men’s bracket. I think Phil Dalhausser is still my favorite volleyball player, with him winning the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 with partner Todd Rogers as my favorite memory. It is so much fun to see all the volleyball professionals play live in the stadium. Catch them on tour this summer if you have the opportunity.

The Comedy of Errors
Shakespeare in the Park is always fun in Austin. The Comedy of Errors is also a good play to watch as the sun sets on the Zilker Hillside Theater and the cool night air begins to set in. This play can be seen through May 28th if you find yourself near Austin.
The Phantom of the Opera
One of my favorite musicals, The Phantom of the Opera. How awesome was it to have this tour stopping in Austin. If only they joined the age of the internet and let you take a photo inside the theater either before or after the show. So much free publicity that could be had on social media sites. You will just have to trust me that the show and the sets on stage were great.

Eeyore’s Birthday Party
Yes, today was the day for the fun Austin event that is Eeyore’s Birthday Party. It was a hot and sunny day with temperatures reaching the mid 90s. But that didn’t stop the party goers from having a good time. The park was full of people in costume and people just out to have a great day.
Shoal Creek Greenbelt
I took a new route this year to Eeyore’s Birthday Party in Pease Park. I parked about two miles away and hiked in along the Shoal Creek Greenbelt. It was a nice walk and there were some fun sights to see along the way.
On the Lake
Got a chance to get out on Lake Travis today with some friends. We launched a boat from Cypress Creek Park and went for a ride. We caught some sun and fed a pair of ducks in a cove where we were relaxing. As you can see from my snapshots, the lake is very pretty at this time of year. I’ll have to remember to get out there more often.
Earth Day ATX
The Earth Day celebration in Austin was held at the campus of Huston-Tillotson University on the East side of town. The campus is situated on a hill that has beautiful sight lines of Austin. There were butterflies, dinosaurs, bats, bands, performers, food trucks, drinks, and all sorts of fun to be had on a nice cool day in Austin.
