The Phantom of the Opera

One of my favorite musicals, The Phantom of the Opera.  How awesome was it to have this tour stopping in Austin.  If only they joined the age of the internet and let you take a photo inside the theater either before or after the show.  So much free publicity that could be had on social media sites.  You will just have to trust me that the show and the sets on stage were great.

Chaddick Dance Theater

IMG_3522

Austin City Hall was the stage tonight for an outdoor performance of Chaddick Dance Theater.  It was interesting to watch the dancers perform while people were out and about in the city, and traffic was flowing behind us on Cesar Chavez Street.  The performance is called “Meetings of the Mind” and there will be a few more chances later in March to check out the show if you find yourself in Austin.

Romeo & Juliet

IMG_2078

This performance of Romeo & Juliet is happening at Ramsey Park in Austin and is staged by Something for Nothing Theater Company.  It is Shakespeare at the most raw – a few props, a few lights, and a bare stage in the park.  The play was great, the crew was awesome, and I recommend that you check it out if you find yourself in Austin.  Bring a blanket, a picnic, and set up camp as close to the stage as possible for a view of the action.

To China, with Love

The Austin Ballet will be going on tour throughout the People’s Republic of China in October.  To celebrate this event, they had an awesome performance tonight called “To China, with Love” at the Long Center.  They don’t let you take photos of the ballet dancers, but the Long Center, its gorgeous view of Austin, and the inside seating area is fair game.  These photos will give you a feel of what it is like to attend an event put on by the Austin Ballet.

42nd Street

IMG_1848

Tonight’s fun was found at the Georgetown Palace Theater.  42nd Street is a musical based upon a Broadway cast as they practice and prepare for a new show set to open soon.  In walks Peggy Sawyer, from Allentown Pennsylvania.  She is new to the business and on her way to becoming a star.  The Georgetown Palace Theater is an older theater and a cool place to catch a show like this.  Here are a few photos to give you an idea of what the Theater looks like.
