International Music Festivalย

I saw four great bands today at the International Music Festival put on by the Texas Music Museum.

  • Indrajit Banerjee and Sri Gourisankar – Indian Music
  • Kunitan – Andean Music
  • Batuque Raiz – Brazilian Music
  • Flying Balalaika Brothers – Russian Music

I was surprised to discover that the two gentlemen playing the sitar and tabla were my favorite music of the afternoon.  You can find them on the Internet and YouTube if you are interested in hearing their music.

Meru

IMG_5677

This movie is about the mountain climbing expedition for the Shark’s Fin route up the Meru Peak in the Himalayas.  If you see the film, you will see a documentary about superhuman men.  If you are like me, you will be shouting on the inside for these men to stop what they are doing – just stop.  It is a crazy film that explores the boundaries of what risks are logical versus illogical.

Mountain of Legos

IMG_5617

After posting my last blog page from the Lego Kids Fest, there was still a little time left before the event was over for the day.  Lucky for me, there was a small mountain of Legos to dive into.  The kids had built a giant blue city with about 90 towers, so I contributed by building a long blue wall to front the city and keep out the kids who wanted to play Godzilla for the night.  It sort of worked and kept the destructive ones from crushing all the towers.  The whole plan failed when the time for the event was up.  The adult proctors began ripping the city to pieces in preparation for the next morning so tomorrow’s kids could have a fresh mountain of blocks to build from.  I hope they have fun and make a city as majestically constructed as the one tonight.  ๐Ÿ™‚

45 Taps

IMG_5579-0

One of the best parts of the Whole Foods Market in the Domain is the Draft Shack.  As you can tell by the photo, they have 45 different beers on tap, among other beverages.  They also have an oyster happy hour from 3 to 5 every day if you are into that sort of thing.  My beer selection today was a pint of Pablo’s Pale Ale from Adelbert’s Brewery in Austin.  Tap #23 on the big board.  It was great!
