Beachtown
My secret place to launch a long hike on the beach is Beachtown. You drive out towards East Beach, turn in towards the condos, and find a place to park. There are beautiful homes, a nice public Boardwalk for beach access, and long stretches of beach in either direction. Today, I hoofed it in the sun out to East Beach and back. It was a great walk on the beach.
In the Rain
Sometimes you get rewarded for taking long walks in the rain.
Spikey
I braved the rains today to get some photos of these spikey plants with the weather pattern behind them.
Skydiving
I caught this cool event this morning. Nothing but white fluffy clouds. Then a far away hum of an airplane engine. Next thing you know, people are jumping out and parachuting to a nice, easy landing. A few quick photos, and they are packing up their gear for next time. It all happened so fast…
Swimming Laps
My weekends have been pretty boring lately. I am doing my best to get to the gym more often. Gotta swim, because it seems to be the best exercise for me now. This is the view I was treated to on my way out of 24 Hour Fitness this evening. It was a treat to have a nice sunset like this.
Flowers and Clouds
I was hoping for a nice sunset, but there were too many clouds out to the West. There were however flowers waving in the breeze, birds chirping, large drops of rain falling at random, and deer bouncing from one side of the clearing to the other. Overall, a pretty nice evening.
Pflugerville Skies
I spent the day in Pflugerville again today. They have everything you could need in life – Hawaiian Falls water park for some sun, 24 Hour Fitness for some exercise, Golden Chick for some fried chicken, Starbucks for some Frappuccinos, and a beautiful evening sky for some eye candy.
The Color Inside
There is an innovative art exhibit on the third floor roof of the Student Activity Center on the University of Texas campus called The Color Inside. It is described on the website as “a naked-eye observatory in the heart of the main campus, where visitors view the sky through an opening in the ceiling called an oculus.” They discourage photography for some reason, but I found the space to be most photogenic on a sunny afternoon. I’ll need to return with my button hole spy camera during the sunset or sunrise hours to try for some even more awesome photos. Wish me luck!
Music on Main
Hey, City of Round Rock! I had a good idea involving the use of your downtown plaza. Since the weather has been so beautiful, why not use the outdoor stage for a band like the Urban Achievers Brass Band? You could invite everyone out for a party, get some food trucks, maybe a snow cone making booth, face painting for the kids, and advertise it a bit to insure a good turnout. What? You already thought of that? It’s called Music on Main and it’s going to be a weekly free event for a while with a different band each week? Awesome! Keep up the good work!
