The best reason for my museum visit was the Ansel Adams Exhibit. It was so nice to see a lot of his work shown in one place. 🙂

McNutt Sculpture Garden
The McNutt Sculpture Garden is a nice shady spot to get a break from the heat in downtown San Antonio. It is filled with outdoor art. There are events here too, like the Pow Wow Dancing that I was able to enjoy. And as a bonus, it is located just off of the Riverwalk.
Southtown
I took a long walk today through Southtown, an area of San Antonio just south of downtown. Sure there are art galleries, restaurants, grocery stores, and condos popping up all over, but my walk was to discover some of the older places that are still hanging on. It is a great place for walking and taking photos.

San Antonio Aquarium
This place is relatively small, but full of wonder. My favorite creatures today were the two free range turtles. One was “running” laps around the gift shop and the other one was having his way with the kids birthday area. They were both pretty large and not at all shy when it came to bumping you out of their way if you were caught in their path. The San Antonio Aquarium also had a Mermaid, Dinosaurs, Lorikeets, Seahorses, Manta Rays, a Pacific Octopus, Jellyfish, and plenty of other cool stuff. It is a great place to spend an afternoon.
The Winter’s Tale
My real reason for visiting San Antonio was to see Shakespeare in the Park. Tonight’s performance was “The Winter’s Tale”. There were kings, queens, lovers, dancers, and even a bear. The story is a good one, so go see the play if you ever have the chance. The Arneson River Theater is magical in itself – with people walking by on the Riverwalk and realizing they are suddenly on the front row of a play, boats full of tourists snapping selfies as they cruise by, ducks floating by and taking no notice to the proceedings, and the lovely outdoor theater. Too much fun!
Last Chance Forever
I attended a small Renaissance Festival in San Antonio this afternoon and got a pleasant surprise with a group called Last Chance Forever. They rescue birds of prey and try to get them back into their natural habitat. They showed off Eagles, Falcons, Owls, Hawks, and Vultures. It was amazing.

Hotel Emma
This was a pleasant surprise! Hotel Emma is soon to be completed, and it looks to be a wonderful place to stay. Maybe someday…
