I took a shortcut through the Texas Hill Country via Old Spicewood Road to get to my next destination. The sunset was too beautiful to capture on film, but this gives you an idea of what part of my drive looked like.

Courthouse Sunset
There is one major requirement for a lovely sunset – sun! After about 360 days of cold, cloudy, overcast, rainy weather in the Austin area (it seemed like that long, but I lost count), the sun finally returned to warm us up. We all thought we had moved to Seattle. Hooray sun!!! Please come back tomorrow. π

Liz Carpenter Fountain
The Liz Carpenter Fountain is located in Butler Park, just outside of the Palmer Events Center in Austin. It is a fun splash pad in warm weather, and a great photo opportunity in the colder weather at sunset. Of course, I wandered through the fountain with my camera and got splashed by some surprise water jets.

Mozart’s – Sunset
Mozartβs Coffee Roasters is the perfect place to end the day on Lake Austin. They have a magnificent drink called “Espresso Shake”. It is the best of both worlds with a mix of espresso and chocolate milk shake. Not to mention that their deck is a great place to hang out, read, and watch the sun go behind the Westlake Hills.
Guadalupe River State Park – Hiking
I took it easy today, and went for a few of the short hikes in the Guadalupe River State Park. I walked along the river and I went to see the view from the overlook. I will definitely go back again when I can spend more time on the longer hikes in the park.

Diamond Fest – Ferris Wheel
There is a carnival going on in the parking lot of the Dell Diamond called Diamond Fest . They have it all, including rides, food, games, a puppet show, a motorcycle show, a petting zoo, pig races, and a Prince cover band. My favorite ride this evening was the Ferris Wheel and the awesome sunset views from the top. π
