The City of Hutto has a historic Cotton Gin. The city is located along Highway 79, just East of Round Rock and right along the railroad tracks. Beginning back in the late 1930s, farmers would come to Hutto and deliver their cotton crops. Today, on this overcast and cloudy evening, the biggest silo was a backdrop for the Sunset Music Series and a great band called Lost & Nameless. What a great idea!

Hawaiian Falls II
I am back at Hawaiian Falls again for another Friday Night Slides. The park is open until 10:00 pm, and the sunsets are fierce as viewed from the top of the water slide tower.
San Marcos River
The San Marcos River is one of the best places for swimming. The water is cool, clear and welcoming. Sewell Park is always filled with fun people who like to soak up the sun, jump in, swim, and float. The river begins just north of where these photos were taken – at the San Marcos Springs or Aquarena Springs. Definitely go for a swim if you find yourself nearby.
Emma Long Metropolitan Park
After work today, I walked along the shoreline of Emma Long Metropolitan Park and then beat the heat by going for a sunset swim. The summertime people were out in full force.
Pennybacker Bridge II
Here are some sunset photos of the Pennybacker Bridge. I stopped to enjoy the view on my way home this evening.
Brushy Creek Trail East
I walked for about an hour this evening on Brushy Creek Trail East. I travelled the section beginning from Forest Ridge Boulevard and heading west along Brushy Creek. This section is a paved trail, covered by shady trees, and good for walking your dog or riding your bike. On the way back, I popped out into the new subdivision that is beginning to take shape – with lots of new construction going on. Here are some photos from the trail and the creek, and as the sun began to set on a nice evening in Round Rock.
North San Gabriel Dam
Sunsets like these are fairly common at the North San Gabriel Dam that forms Lake Georgetown. You can approach the walk across the dam from either side – either start from the Cedar Breaks Park area or from the Lake Overlook Park side of the dam. The walk is mostly on an old two lane road that is now closed to traffic. You will have a nice vantage point of the lake, the San Gabriel river below the dam, and the city of Georgetown off into the distance. There are also plenty of photo opportunities here with birds, flowers, deer, and other cool stuff. If you have the chance to visit, I hope you enjoy the walk and the sights. 🙂
