San Marcos River

IMG_5166

The San Marcos River is one of the best places for swimming.  The water is cool, clear and welcoming.  Sewell Park is always filled with fun people who like to soak up the sun, jump in, swim, and float.  The river begins just north of where these photos were taken – at the San Marcos Springs or Aquarena Springs.  Definitely go for a swim if you find yourself nearby.

Kompressor Plus

IMG_4995

Hey.  I got a new backpack.  It is the Marmot Kompressor Plus.  I also got this groovy Sea to Summit Lightweight Drysack.  The concept is to take them hiking, and then stash everything into the Drysack so I can more easily jump into rivers and stuff.  I am kind of a chicken when it comes to swimming in unknown places or crossing weird bodies of water, but maybe since I won’t have to worry about my stuff getting wet, I’ll be less scared?  I will be sure to report back to you with the results.  ðŸ™‚

Neighborhood Walk

IMG_4931

What can you do when your car is in the shop for alignment, among other things?  You can beg your friend for a ride home from work.  You can go for a swim and then bring your camera along for a neighborhood walk.  You might see an awesome sunset, a bunny, a Versa-Vibe, the half moon, and other cool stuff.  See, who needs a car anyways?  Uh, can someone give me a ride to work in the morning?  ðŸ™‚

Turtle Creek Pool II

IMG_4626

It is back in the pool for me.  It has been forever since I swam laps, so today’s 20 minute session was taken slow and easy.  Hello self – you should be doing this several times a week, if not every day.  I don’t listen to self reasoning very well, but now that my first swim session of the year is done, it should be easy to return to the pool and do it again.  The cloudy weather made for a perfect, cool day.  ðŸ™‚

Jacob’s Well

IMG_2117.JPG

It was a nice day for a drive today, so I went to check out Jacob’s Well , near Wimberly. From the parking area, it is a short walk to the artesian spring. The opening to the swimming hole is only about 12 feet, so it is not a very large place to swim. It is currently closed to swimming, but there were a few people breaking the rules, and a handful of scuba divers descending into the spring. The water was very clear and inviting.
