Today was the open house at The University of Texas called “Explore UT“. It is billed as “The Biggest Open House in Texas! — an extraordinary event featuring close to 400 programs held across the Forty Acres.” And they aren’t kidding. I found some things on campus today that I didn’t know existed and wore myself out by rushing from one awesome event to another. Get ready for a ton of photos to be posted!

Alice
My visit to the Harry Ransom Center was to see the Alice in Wonderland Exhibit. It was full of wonderful things. There was art, books, games, records, films, photos and other things of interest. They told the story from when Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) first dreamed up the concept, all the way to works of present day artists. The exhibit is there until July 6, so check it out if you get the opportunity.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sculpture
On my rainy walk through the campus of The University of Texas this evening, I stopped to admire the sculpture of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The sculpture had more meaning after recently watching the film “Selma”.
LBJ Library (interior)
The interior of the LBJ Library is also pretty cool. There are several exhibits from LBJ’s Presidency, including a mock up of the Oval Office. And now, they have an exhibit covering the 60’s with a jukebox full of songs you can play.
LBJ Library (exterior)
Today is Austin Museum Day , so I decided to visit two museums for free. The first museum is the LBJ Library . I will show you the exterior first. This is a great place for a picnic if you find yourself in the area.
