Tower Reflections

The Biology Turtle Pond on campus was a nice place to get some photos of the Texas Tower on this cold, drizzly night.  The Tower was lit up in Burnt Orange in honor of the Texas Women’s Volleyball Team winning the Big 12 Championship.  Yay!  I took the opportunity to walk around campus with my camera.

Overlook Park

Today’s mission was to walk across the North San Gabriel Dam, down the hill, and then to the fishing pier at Overlook Park on Lake Georgetown.  Sometimes you get a groovy sunset, and sometimes you get beautiful colors.  It was a nice cool evening at the lake with an occasional fish jumping to break the calm surface of the water.

Three Herons

Besides the beautiful San Gabriel River sunset, can you spot the three Herons?  Now that we have experienced “Fall Back” there will be more evening walking, and less evening hiking.  I have to get out of work on time to get a nice walk in before dark.  And you don’t want to get caught out after dark when all the monsters start terrorizing the neighborhood.

Southwestern University

I went to see a film as part of the third annual Interdisciplinary Spanish Film Festival at Southwestern University this evening.  I got there a little early and went for a short walk around the Campus.  There was green grass, historic buildings, gray cloudy skies, stately oak trees, and plenty of squirrels zooming around.  In case you are wondering, the film was called “Siete cajas” and was a story about a 17 year old pushcart porter working the Mercado 4 in Asunción, the capital city of Paraguay.  The film is billed as a Paraguayan thriller film, and it delivers pretty well if you have the chance to see it someday.
