Happy New Year Internet Friends! I am going to bring in the New Year in Downtown Austin and I needed some food to help me make it through the night. A hearty burger from Casino el Camino did the trick. This place on Sixth Street is both a bar and it has a small, but awesome, kitchen in the back. There is eclectic art on the walls, a patio for hanging out, the best jukebox, and an upstairs area for relaxing and chatting. I ordered the Chicago Burger – bacon, romaine lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. Totally yummy! Secret Tip – When you order your food, don’t give them your real name, because when it is ready, they will call you over the loudspeaker in a fun way. It’s best to make them call out something funky to entertain the whole bar. 🙂

Austin Walk
After my visit to the Mexic-Arte Museum, I struck out on a long walk. I went South on Congress, crossed the Ann Richards Bridge, got onto the Hike and Bike Trail, it turned into the Boardwalk, crossed over Town Lake at the I-35 bridge, followed the trail under I-35, walked up Rainey Street, by the Convention Center, over to Sixth Street, and back to Congress. Of course, I took a few photos of the scenes along the way on this cold and cloudy day in Austin (the sky cleared a little as the day went on). Overall, a nice walk!
Mexic-Arte Museum
If you live in America, you have been cheated out of fun all this time. You have been playing boring Bingo with combinations of letters and numbers like “B-12”. All along, Mexico has had a cooler version called LoterÃa with awesome picture cards like La Muerte (“Death”) and La Sirena (“The Mermaid”). I learned more about this today at the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, and took some photos to help enlighten the rest of the planet. Now you can jettison your Bingo cards and pick up LoterÃa cards to replace them. You can thank me later with a small portion of your winnings. ¡Buena suerte! 🙂

The Kite
Ever feel like a kite caught in a tree? Like one very bad day in life, and then you got stuck where you are? Physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually immobilized. Maybe waiting for a fortuitous breeze to come along and lift you out of your unfortunate situation. Maybe hoping for a kind soul to come to your rescue. Perhaps someone who can mend the broken parts, patch some holes, and help you get back aloft. Knowing that you can still fly. Aware that you are able to soar.
