The Chinese New Year Celebration in Chinatown Center was fun. My favorite performance was Draiku Aerial. They were mesmerizing. I also took the opportunity to walk around and stop in at two of my favorite places – Pho Saigon for steamed rice with charbroiled sliced pork, and Short and Sweet for Thai iced tea with pearls.

USA Rugby
In one of the best transformations ever, Dell Diamond changed from a baseball field to a rugby pitch. USA Rugby showed up and outdueled the team from Canada in a hard-fought match in perfect weather conditions in Central Texas. Let’s hope they do this sort of thing more often, as rugby is a most interesting and enjoyable sport to watch live.
Hutto Co-Op Market Nights
This may be the world’s smallest Market, but the bonus is a nice sunset behind the neighboring grain silos. I found a small Valentine’s cookie to purchase, took some photos, wandered around, and had dinner in downtown Hutto to finish off the evening.
Torchy’s Tacos
The best way to waste away a Sunday. Wake up super late and have brunch at Torchy’s. Go to a Super Bowl party. Sleep more. P.S. Torchy’s has the best tacos!
Caldwell County Courthouse
The Caldwell County Courthouse is a photogenic place. I like to walk around the Square and admire the architecture from all different vantage points.
Black’s Barbecue II
The Original Black’s Barbecue in Lockhart may be the best BBQ joint on the planet. My lunch today was simple – pork chop, brisket, black-eyed peas, and iced tea. If you ever find yourself within driving distance of Black’s, please check it out.
Sandy Creek Park
I took a short sunset hike along the shoreline at Sandy Creek Park this evening. This small, quiet park at Lake Travis might be a good spot for a swim in the summertime.
Austin Community College
I took a short walk around Austin Community College in Round Rock before it got too cold and too dark. The water tower caught my attention at dusk.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens – IMAX
I rarely see movies twice in the theater, but I had to see this one at the IMAX before it moved on. It was so much more intertaining – especially the aerial fight scenes – on the large screen. Too cool.
Shake Shack
I like to call this one “Full Moon over Shake Shack”. Obviously, this location is not much of a shack. If you go here I highly recommend the Lockhart Link Burger – “Cheeseburger topped with griddled Kreuz Market jalapeño cheese sausage link, ShackSauce, pickles.” That was what’s for dinner tonight.
