The World Market has useful things – like tea and chocolate from different parts of the world. You can go there and pretend that you are on a multinational trip. They also have things that are less useful- like elephants, chocolate banana Pocky sticks, and champagne flavor jelly beans. I find that I tend to gravitate to the less useful items when making my purchasing decisions. At least my next snack time should be fun.

Cross on the Hill
I just noticed this lighted cross today for the first time. It is a forty foot tall, free standing structure built by the New Hope Community Church. If you climb to the top of the hill, there is a great view of the City of Round Rock. Imagine the sunrises you could catch from here, looking East over the city. I may have to return early some morning.
Spring: New Beginnings
The Round Rock ArtSpace had an art show this afternoon to celebrate Spring and New Beginnings. The intent was to celebrate “themes related to spring, growth, new beginnings and change”. I liked the art. My favorite piece below with the funky birds was called “Angel Garden” by Kristin Kim. The show inspired me to strike out on a walk around the local neighborhood as the sun was beginning to set. I just caught some new Springtime tree blossoms as the tree limbs were blowing in the wind with a beautiful sunset in the distance. I think this brief moment was on point with the celebration that ArtSpace had meant for us to enjoy.
Music on Main
Hey, City of Round Rock! I had a good idea involving the use of your downtown plaza. Since the weather has been so beautiful, why not use the outdoor stage for a band like the Urban Achievers Brass Band? You could invite everyone out for a party, get some food trucks, maybe a snow cone making booth, face painting for the kids, and advertise it a bit to insure a good turnout. What? You already thought of that? It’s called Music on Main and it’s going to be a weekly free event for a while with a different band each week? Awesome! Keep up the good work!

Pluckers Wing Bar
Pluckers is a good place to hang out with your coworkers for happy hour. My beer of choice today was the Revolver Blood & Honey. It is defined on their website as “An unfiltered deep golden ale made with malted two row barley and wheat. The brew is finished with Blood Orange zest, local Fall Creek Farms Honey and other spices that bring special flavors to this unique beer.” I recommend it – especially on the patio in wonderful weather.

USA Rugby
In one of the best transformations ever, Dell Diamond changed from a baseball field to a rugby pitch. USA Rugby showed up and outdueled the team from Canada in a hard-fought match in perfect weather conditions in Central Texas. Let’s hope they do this sort of thing more often, as rugby is a most interesting and enjoyable sport to watch live.
Torchy’s Tacos
The best way to waste away a Sunday. Wake up super late and have brunch at Torchy’s. Go to a Super Bowl party. Sleep more. P.S. Torchy’s has the best tacos!
