More awesome bands and music today at the Spider House Amphitheater and Courtyard. Tomorrow will be the last chance to check out the HONK! TX festival with a parade and several performances on the East side of Austin.

Spider House
Today’s lunch and HONK! TX experience was at Spider House. This place is a must see if you visit Austin some day. Here are some photos to give you an idea of what it looks like.
HONK! TX – Bramaya
My favorite HONK! TX band tonight on South Congress was Bramaya. The description on their website says, “Bramaya is the musical project of Austin-based West African master percussionist Abou Sylla. Named in honor of his father’s village, Abou’s band, Bramaya, combines new musical ideas and traditional West African rhythms.” They totally rocked the stage at Jo’s Coffee. I hope to see them perform again at the remaining two days of the music festival.
Snack Bar
Dinner tonight was at Snack Bar on South Congress. I sat out on the patio so I could watch some of the HONK! TX bands perform – lucky me. My selections were the Black Bean Dip, Caesar Salad, and the Hibiscus Mint Iced Tea. Everything was great.
HONK! TX – Red 7
Hello Austin people. The HONK! TX Festival is in town this weekend and you should try to get out and enjoy some of these bands. The weather should be great all weekend. Tonight’s event was Downtown at Red 7, but check their website for the rest of the festival locations. This is one of the best music festivals in Austin, in my opinion. 🙂
Thinkery
Austin had a Community Night at the Thinkery. There were chicken puppets, rainbows, water walls, color panels, giant Lite-Brite, random art, and so many more activities. If you have kids, and you live near Austin, and you haven’t brought them here yet, then you should probably punch yourself in the face as punishment (not really, this blog does not normally promote violence). Just get them here as soon as possible. 🙂
Kimberly Freeman
I tried to assemble a collection of three YouTube videos that would give you an idea of how talented Kimberly Freeman is (from One-Eyed Doll fame). The first video is the official music video for the song “You’re a Vampire” and it shows how fun and quirky the band can be. The second video is an acapella version of the song “New Orleans” which is just awesome. And, the third video is a Promo film from 2011 that will give you a small taste of what one of her live shows will be like if you decide to get out and see her on tour (beware the language in this one). I hope you like her music and that this will tempt you to explore her website or her YouTube channel a little further.
Cinderella
The Browning Hangar
When Mueller was an Austin Airport, The Browning Hangar was Austin’s first airplane hangar. According to the website, “Due to a steel shortage during World War II, the hangar was built with a series of glue-laminated wooden trusses.” It is still a photogenic structure that hold’s a lot of history.
Mad Tiger Festival – Mother Falcon
Mother Falcon is a great group of talented artists. They were my favorite band today at the Mad Tiger Festival.
