I think this is why I like hiking so much. In the span of a few hours on the Cotton Belt Trail, I went from feeling good in the cool cloudy weather, to miserable and soaking wet in a downpour, to a state of awe at seeing a magnificent rainbow at the end of the trail.
Let this be a lesson to me – don’t be grumpy when you find yourself about a mile away from your car, with the umbrella in the trunk, and you are walking back in the rain. You never know when a magnificent rainbow will pop up out of nowhere to put an exclamation point on your awesome day in Austin. 🙂
As I walked through the Domain, and as the sun was approaching the horizon, there was this tiny rainbow for a few moments off into the distance. The top photo has been edited with Pixlr and the bottom photo is the original. Enjoy!
Austin had a Community Night at the Thinkery. There were chicken puppets, rainbows, water walls, color panels, giant Lite-Brite, random art, and so many more activities. If you have kids, and you live near Austin, and you haven’t brought them here yet, then you should probably punch yourself in the face as punishment (not really, this blog does not normally promote violence). Just get them here as soon as possible. 🙂
