One of my favorite experiences at the Grand Canyon was the short hike I had time for on part of the Bright Angel Trail. This is a must do if you visit – take a day hike. You may encounter spectacular views, wildlife, and other friendly hikers from around the world. Please do this if you can, but also be safe as you plan for and enjoy the hike.

Grand Canyon – Kolb Studio
The Kolb Studio is perched on the ledge of the Grand Canyon. Imagine what it would have been like to study and create art here in the early 1900s.
Grand Canyon – Hopi House Views
When you first arrive at the Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim in a cold weather climate, you will have the urge to do a few things – run to the edge and take photos, look over the edge and imagine what it would be like to travel to the bottom of the Canyon, then find an interesting structure to help protect you from the chilly and bursting winds. Thus my visit to the Hopi House. There are beautiful views through the windows and some interesting, colorful art. After a few minutes, you will be warm again, and ready to walk out along the rim some more.

Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art – Samurai
The Samurai exhibit at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is pretty cool. There is armor and weapons everywhere, along with a recorded guide session that explains everything for you. The exhibit is there until April 29th, so be sure to check it out if you are a fan of history and find yourself near the Las Vegas Strip.

The Cosmopolitan
The Cosmopolitan is my favorite Las Vegas Casino by far. A friend of mine and I have a running love affair with the Wheel of Fortune slot machine over near the Vesper Bar. Tonight, I started with $20.00 and got to a high point of $141.25 before calling it quits and cashing out at $100.00. A lucky night for me! Please visit this Hotel and Casino if you find yourself on the Vegas Strip.
Desert Sunset
Lower Bristlecone Trail
Just a short ride out to Lee Canyon from the Vegas Strip, and you will discover some beautiful hikes. The Lower Bristlecone Trail is an easy one, with a wide gravel path to enjoy. Along the way, I found pine trees, mountain views, fresh air, woodpeckers, pine cones, and deer. I highly recommend a drive out to Lee Canyon if you find yourself in the area.
Deer Creek Road
One of my favorite outings from Las Vegas is a drive out to Deer Creek Road. It is so magical how you can quickly transform from the desert to mountains. And the drive only takes about 45 minutes from the Vegas Strip, depending on the traffic. The views here are gorgeous, and you just might run across some wild donkeys or horses, which are native to the area.
