The McNutt Sculpture Garden is a nice shady spot to get a break from the heat in downtown San Antonio. It is filled with outdoor art. There are events here too, like the Pow Wow Dancing that I was able to enjoy. And as a bonus, it is located just off of the Riverwalk.

Southtown
I took a long walk today through Southtown, an area of San Antonio just south of downtown. Sure there are art galleries, restaurants, grocery stores, and condos popping up all over, but my walk was to discover some of the older places that are still hanging on. It is a great place for walking and taking photos.

Round Rock Ballet Folklorico
We were treated to a short performance by Round Rock Ballet Folklorico at a work event for lunch today. I took a few photos with my aging iPod Touch. The dances were great, and you should check out their shows sometime if you find yourself in the area.

Rattletree Glow Party
What happens at the Rattletree Glow Party, you might ask? You put on your glow stuff, and maybe get your face painted. You take off your shoes at the door as per the rules. Then you can chill out and listen to DJ Happy Happy James, or get your dance on. When the marimba music starts, you are in musical heaven. Joel Laviolette and his band are so much fun. It was a great celebration of the new studio home for the Rattletree School of Marimba.
Veracruz All Natural
Welcome to Round Rock! You never can have enough tacos in one city. Especially when you make tacos that can rival those from Torchy’s. Veracruz All Natural is not a fancy place, but they know tacos and smoothies. Please support this family restaurant if you find yourself just north of Austin.
Gallery 701
Who knew there was an art gallery at the Long Center? I met this lovely individual and her friends tonight – Hallie Rae Ward. I wanted to spend more time taking photos of her art, but we started chatting, and then the Austin Ballet was beckoning.
To China, with Love
The Austin Ballet will be going on tour throughout the Peopleโs Republic of China in October. To celebrate this event, they had an awesome performance tonight called “To China, with Love” at the Long Center. They don’t let you take photos of the ballet dancers, but the Long Center, its gorgeous view of Austin, and the inside seating area is fair game. These photos will give you a feel of what it is like to attend an event put on by the Austin Ballet.
