I am back at Hawaiian Falls again for another Friday Night Slides. The park is open until 10:00 pm, and the sunsets are fierce as viewed from the top of the water slide tower.

East Jordan Iron Works
The days in Round Rock have gotten so hot that even the neighborhood kids are staying inside instead of swimming. At around 4:00 pm today, I headed for the pool. I looked both ways, crossed the street, and trekked across this awesome manhole cover from East Jordan Iron Works – “the world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of manhole covers,” among other things. Pretty impressive, huh?

Michoacana Natural Ice Cream
I have been looking for different ways to beat the heat in Austin, and today I totally scored. Michoacana Natural Ice Cream is located in a rather awkward shopping center in North Austin, but it is definitely worth the trip. They have all different kinds of ice cream and frozen bars and aguas frescas and other treats. When I finished my scoops of Mexican Vanilla (yummy and orange in color) and Coffee with Almonds and Chocolate, I noticed that there was an option for Tequila ice cream. Why didn’t I see that before? Probably because I was too busy snapping photos of the joint. Reminder to self – order the tequila ice cream on your next visit. 🙂
Arboretum Duck Pond
It is still too hot in Austin for much hiking, so I took a walk around the Arboretum duck pond and then climbed the hill to visit the Barnes and Noble book store.
Stiles Switch BBQ
Tonight’s dinner was consumed at the award winning Stiles Switch BBQ. Nothin’ fancy, just some great Texas BBQ. I enjoyed the moist brisket, turkey breast, mac n cheese, corn casserole, and iced tea. This is a nice casual place on Lamar Blvd. in North Austin, so come and check it out.
Hawaiian Falls
Tonight was Friday Night Slides where they keep the Hawaiian Falls park open until 10:00 pm. It was my first time here, and this place is totally fun. They had a DJ who controlled the music throughout the entire park and kept it upbeat at all times. There was an outdoor dance floor, Zip lines, water slides, an elevated ropes course, a wave pool, a lazy river for floating, sandy beaches for lounging, food, and drink. Next Friday, they will do it all again. 🙂
Happy Hour
We decided to check out this Joint in Downtown Round Rock for Happy Hour today. The Thursday special was $1 off Tequilas and Mexican Beers, so we enjoyed the Dos Equis.
Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation
Rebecca Ferguson makes this movie great. Without her, it would have been just another Mission: Impossible flick. The stunts and the filming process are also most excellent!
