Tonight’s mission was the Austin Trail Of Lights. The weather called for a warm, rainy night and they were right. I took the shuttle bus from Downtown Austin and your first sight off the bus is the giant tree of lights strung from one of Austin’s Moonlight Towers. What a sight!

Mozart’s – Christmas Lights
Mozart’s – Sunset
Mozart’s Coffee Roasters is the perfect place to end the day on Lake Austin. They have a magnificent drink called “Espresso Shake”. It is the best of both worlds with a mix of espresso and chocolate milk shake. Not to mention that their deck is a great place to hang out, read, and watch the sun go behind the Westlake Hills.
Contemporary Austin Laguna Gloria – Rose Garden
Contemporary Austin Laguna Gloria – Net-Work
This is the Do Ho Suh art called “Net-Work”. It extends over a pier at Laguna Gloria and makes for a nice photo opportunity.
Contemporary Austin Laguna Gloria – Exterior
I took a walk around the property at Contemporary Austin Laguna Gloria this afternoon. It is a Villa/Museum/Art School located on the shores of Lake Austin. The Winter temperatures were in the 70s today, so it made for a lovely day!
Terry Black’s Barbecue
Welcome to Austin! We need another BBQ Joint. 🙂
The good news is that this version of Black’s Barbecue is very similar to the one in Lockhart. I walked in the door and picked my sides – beans and creamed corn. I then turned the corner and watched as my meats were cut and weighed – moist brisket, turkey breast, and a small jalapeño and cheese sausage. Then pay, grab your drink, and enjoy. You can choose to sit inside or on the patio outside, where I am composing this post at the moment. What a beautiful day in Austin it is.
A Storm Of Swords
I finished reading my book today. The third in the “Game Of Thrones” series by George R. R. Martin, with about 1127 pages on the Kindle. There are 80 main chapters in the book, and each chapter follows the life of one of the primary 10 characters.
Jaime Lannister – Called The Kingslayer
Catelyn Stark – Widow of Lord Eddard Stark
Arya Stark – Ten year old daughter to Catelyn Stark
Tyrion Lannister – A dwarf, wounded in the Battle of the Blackwater
Davos Seaworth – Once a smuggler
Sansa Stark – A maid of twelve, daughter to Catelyn Stark
Jon Snow – A sworn brother of the Night’s Watch
Daenerys Targaryen – Sole surviving heir of Aerys II Targaryen
Bran Stark – Nine year old son of Catelyn Stark
Samwell Tarley – A fat steward and keeper of the ravens
My favorite stories followed Jon Snow as he adventured beyond the Wall and into the North. It is probably best to start at the first book in the series if you plan on reading about The Game of Thrones. The Kindle Edition can be found here along with a little taste of the beginning pages. Be careful, because if you are like me, you will get hooked on the series (just the books so far and not the HBO shows) and end up reading for hours on end, late into the Winter nights.
Red
I stopped in for Pho Tai Chin tonight at Pho Saigon in the Chinatown Center in North Austin. As usual, the Pho hit the spot on a cold, wet night. They have decorated a Christmas Tree in front of the complex, so I took a few photos to share.
