Tower Reflections

IMG_6615

The Biology Turtle Pond on campus was a nice place to get some photos of the Texas Tower on this cold, drizzly night.  The Tower was lit up in Burnt Orange in honor of the Texas Women’s Volleyball Team winning the Big 12 Championship.  Yay!  I took the opportunity to walk around campus with my camera.

Frank Reaugh – Landscapes of Texas and the American West

IMG_6599

Frank Reaugh led a very interesting life.  His passion was documenting the Southwest by using pastels and paint.  The exhibit at the Harry Ransom Center had several of his art pieces on display.  Just imagine getting the chance to travel with him and watch his plein air process of painting the countryside and animals in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Annual Lighting of the Square

IMG_6579

The City of Georgetown as well as the cold, blowing rain came out for the Annual Lighting of the Square.  There were Christmas Carols to be sung, the Mayor to be greeted, and Santa Claus to tell your Christmas wishes.  I took a few photos out in the crazy cold front from the North, and then hurried over to the Monument Market to warm up with some turkey and squash chili and hot green tea with honey.

Model Train Show

IMG_6540

It is time for the Holiday Model Train Show at ArtSpace in Downtown Round Rock.  It is a series of dioramas surrounded by train tracks.  For a $5.00 donation, you can control one of the many trains circling the exhibits.  For some reason, this entertains me for long periods of time.  Check it out if you find yourself in Round Rock for the Holidays.
