The Music Run

The Travis County Expo Center has a nice hilltop view of downtown Austin.  The following set of photos will let you know what it is like to participate in the Music Run.  Me and my bad knee cheated and walked the course tonight.  This is a wonderful event and you should join in if it shows up in your town.  My only regret was that I didn’t get a better photo of the Left Shark.  I showed up early, had lots of fun, and was one of the last people to leave.

Chinese New Year Celebration

IMG_0648

The Chinese New Year Celebration in Chinatown Center was fun.  My favorite performance was Draiku Aerial.  They were mesmerizing.  I also took the opportunity to walk around and stop in at two of my favorite places – Pho Saigon for steamed rice with charbroiled sliced pork, and Short and Sweet for Thai iced tea with pearls.

Pluckers Wing Bar

IMG_0637

Pluckers is a good place to hang out with your coworkers for happy hour.  My beer of choice today was the Revolver Blood & Honey.  It is defined on their website as “An unfiltered deep golden ale made with malted two row barley and wheat. The brew is finished with Blood Orange zest, local Fall Creek Farms Honey and other spices that bring special flavors to this unique beer.”  I recommend it – especially on the patio in wonderful weather.

Want Sunsets?

IMG_0634

I keep getting out of work after dark.  It is not fun.  At the latest, I should be catching the sunset.  So now, I am using Periscope to catch the rising or setting sun.  Like this person above who was Periscoping while driving in Russia.  Thanks for sharing your awesome sun event with the world!  The most recent Periscope feature adds a live, moving curve that defines the dark part of the world versus the light part of the world on the map view.  If only I could get out of work early enough to see the light side of things…
