Witte Museum Art
Parts of the Witte Museum are currently under construction, but they still have plenty of art to admire. My favorites depicted the Mission life in South Texas.
Muertos Fest – Art
Today there was a DÃa de Los Muertos Festival in downtown San Antonio at La Villita. The Festival had tons of art on display and for sale at several booths around the courtyard. It was jam packed with families in the mood to celebrate.
Mala Luna – The Festival
The Mala Luna Music Festival was held on the grounds of the old Lone Star Brewery in San Antonio. There was food, drinks, music, art, plenty of sunshine, and the cool backdrop of the old brewery itself with its iconic tower.
La Antorcha de la Amistad
If you are walking in downtown San Antonio, you are likely to see a large sculpture called the Torch of Friendship. You may also experience direct sunlight and off in the distance, see the sunshine glinting off the exterior elevators as they carry passengers up to the top of the Tower of the Americas.
Taco Wall Art
Some of the art for sale at the local Taco Joint – Veracruz All Natural. And they have yummy tacos and beverages too.
Fan Fest III
How to have a fun night in Austin with a bit of an international theme:
- Park at the State Capitol at around sunset and take a leisurely stroll through the grounds.
- Walk to Sixth Street in the gorgeous weather we are now experiencing.
- Check out the art and activities of the Fan Fest for the Circuit of the Americas.
- Walk to the far end of Sixth Street and get an Orange Cream Italian Water-Ice at Jim Jim’s.
- Walk all over the downtown area to work up an appetite and admire some of the awesome cars in town.
- Have crepes for dinner on the outdoor patio at Cafe Crepe.
- Return to the Fan Fest to catch the Flying Balalaika Brothers play another fantastic show.
- Call it a night with tiny experiences of Texas, Italy, France, Russia, and the Ukraine to spur your dreams.
Tears of Joy
Tears of Joy is a pretty cool shop on Sixth Street in Austin. I visited with a friend this afternoon, and we selected the “Evil Cowboy” hot sauce for another friend of ours who loves to taste very hot sauces. Now we just need to get some tacos for our taste test. Check out the shop if you find yourself in Austin.
Stagecoach and Stuff
Yes, the Briscoe Western Art Museum is huge. Sprinkled among the art on three floors, they have a stagecoach, a wagon, a windmill, a diorama of the Battle of the Alamo, and lots of other sights to see. This Museum has quickly become one of my favorites in San Antonio.
