Local Guides

IMG_6497

If you are a fan of Google Maps, you can help out the world and get some benefits like upgrading your Google Drive storage.  I have used and contributed a bit to Yelp, Gowalla, and Foursquare in the past, but fell out of like with them all.  I’m usually out and about with a camera of some sort, so why not contribute a photo or a review every now and then?  These screenshots are from tonight’s review of Shake Shack in the Domain – my first burger here.  If you want to learn more about Google Local Guides, check out their website.  If you become a super Local Guide and get invited to a cool party or get Google Drive upgrades or other free stuff, then you can thank me later.  ðŸ™‚

45 Taps

IMG_5579-0

One of the best parts of the Whole Foods Market in the Domain is the Draft Shack.  As you can tell by the photo, they have 45 different beers on tap, among other beverages.  They also have an oyster happy hour from 3 to 5 every day if you are into that sort of thing.  My beer selection today was a pint of Pablo’s Pale Ale from Adelbert’s Brewery in Austin.  Tap #23 on the big board.  It was great!

Great Lawn Overhead Structure

IMG_4814

I was back at the Domain again today to get a salad for a late lunch at Whole Foods, try out a new coffee shop at Bee Cave Coffee, enjoy some live music on “The Great Lawn”, and then join a friend to watch some of the UFC fights.  The canopy structure covering the Lawn is super interesting to me.  I walked around like a geek and took several photos as the sun set over the area.  Now you know what to expect, should you ever visit for shopping, food and beverage, or some music.

Flaming Pizza

IMG_4801

My Friday evening consisted of a nice Jazz/Blues band at the Domain and a pizza on the patio of Flaming Pizza which overlooks The Great Lawn with its small amphitheater.  This is a casual pizza joint that just opened a few weeks ago.  My pizza of choice was the “Bacon n’ Shrooms” with white sauce, mozzarella, mushroom, applewood bacon, garlic, and arugula.  Yummy!  They only make one size pizza, about 11 inches, and you can build your own or pick one of their specialties off the menu.  I believe they will all have a thin crispy crust, hot from the flaming oven.  The next time I return, I will load up on a build your own version, starting with Canadian bacon and then piling on more toppings from there.  ðŸ™‚
