It was 95 degrees today. It was decidedly cooler in the wave pool at Hawaiian Falls where I spent a lot of my time. The heat may have been partially due to that large flaming ball in the sky.

Opening Day
Today was Opening Day for Hawaiian Falls in Pflugerville. The water park was calm, with just a medium sized crowd. Last year, at the end of the season, they were offering huge discounts on season passes, so I bought one. I was happy today that I made that decision back in the Fall. The result was sun, wave pool fun, relaxing in the lazy river, and a great afternoon.

The Saucy Rooster
There is a new restaurant in town, and as you can see, they have some nice macaroni and cheese, fried okra, and chicken with gravy. It is a tiny joint located just off the freeway and named The Saucy Rooster Chicken Company. If you find yourself in Round Rock, check out the menu and see if there is something you might like to try.

Why Snapchat
I just started exploring Snapchat this weekend. If all those people are using it, there must be something there. Pretty simple, right? Just send a photo or video to your friend, and they can see it and then it goes away. But that is not the cool part – more instructions here. The “Story” is where it’s at for me. You broadcast a snap to all of your followers, and it can be viewed multiple times for 24 hours. Add more snaps, and soon you have a running story on how your day went. Take for example the story from “EverestNoFilter”. Two mountain climbers who are snapping their way to the summit of Everest. How awesome! If you hustle over there you can view their snaps from the last 24 hours. Enjoy!

Deutschen Pfest
The Pflugerville Deutschen Pfest made for a fun afternoon. Of course my favorite activity was the petting zoo with the little pigs, rabbits, goats, and chickens who just wanted to have a relaxing Sunday. The bands were good. My favorite was a band called The Eggmen, which is a Beatles tribute band. Otherwise, it was a big happy fair with rides, booths, food and drinks.
Deep Eddy 100th Birthday
There was time for another celebration today. It was the 100th birthday for the Deep Eddy Swimming pool. There was swimming, birthday cake, and a band to help celebrate. It got busy inside the pool grounds, so I left out the back gate and took a walk along the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail to enjoy some of the sights.
