If you live in a place that is relatively free of corruption, and the government supports the rule of law, be thankful. This film will take you to places that you don’t want to be. It is a lesson in humanity, both good and bad – but real.
After work today, I walked along the shoreline of Emma Long Metropolitan Park and then beat the heat by going for a sunset swim. The summertime people were out in full force.

I ran some errands at the Barton Creek Square Mall this afternoon, and it is always fun to visit the LEGO Store. There were Star Wars LEGOs, Batman LEGOs, tons of other LEGOs, and this cool LEGO Shark. Speaking of sharks, does anyone else follow @MaryLeeShark on Twitter? You should. 🙂
Celebrating an early Bastille Day or La Fête nationale at the French Legation Museum and grounds in Austin. There is a replica of the Eiffel Tower, live music, food, and drink. Enjoy!
My afternoon plans were to attend the “Quesoff” at the Mohawk in downtown Austin. These plans were squashed when I showed up about thirty minutes early and the line went down the block and wrapped up the hill from there with no end in sight. Apparently, queso contests are extremely popular on beautiful sunny days in Austin. So, instead, I checked into Pelon’s for some brunch. This place is nice with a gorgeuos deck and groovy air-conditioned interior. The food needs a little work, but the location is perfect and the staff was great. See you next year, queso judging party!
This evening, instead of hiking the trail alongside Bull Creek, I waded my way upstream from Bull Creek District Park. It was a lot of fun and the water was beautiful thanks to all the rains we have experienced this year in Austin. I need to take more hikes like this in the near future. 🙂
My friend had a going away party this evening at Tortuga Flats in Round Rock. He’s not really going too far as it turns out, but just moving from one organization at work to our organization. I think we look for excuses to drink nice, tasty margaritas too much. Oh, and by the way, this place has a nice Happy Hour!
This pizza joint is a good place to enjoy the Wednesday night pizza buffet. At Double Dave’s in North Austin, you can load up on salad, pizza and pizza rolls. I’m sure this is a most healthy dinner, right?
This one is an emotional journey, and I might have cried a little bit. It is a good movie for those who fight to never lose their youthful exuberance.
