I spent the day in Pflugerville again today. They have everything you could need in life – Hawaiian Falls water park for some sun, 24 Hour Fitness for some exercise, Golden Chick for some fried chicken, Starbucks for some Frappuccinos, and a beautiful evening sky for some eye candy.
Today was Opening Day for Hawaiian Falls in Pflugerville. The water park was calm, with just a medium sized crowd. Last year, at the end of the season, they were offering huge discounts on season passes, so I bought one. I was happy today that I made that decision back in the Fall. The result was sun, wave pool fun, relaxing in the lazy river, and a great afternoon.
Barton Springs – just another indication that Austin has had too much rain this season. The spillway is maxed out.
There is a new restaurant in town, and as you can see, they have some nice macaroni and cheese, fried okra, and chicken with gravy. It is a tiny joint located just off the freeway and named The Saucy Rooster Chicken Company. If you find yourself in Round Rock, check out the menu and see if there is something you might like to try.

The Pflugerville Deutschen Pfest made for a fun afternoon. Of course my favorite activity was the petting zoo with the little pigs, rabbits, goats, and chickens who just wanted to have a relaxing Sunday. The bands were good. My favorite was a band called The Eggmen, which is a Beatles tribute band. Otherwise, it was a big happy fair with rides, booths, food and drinks.
There was time for another celebration today. It was the 100th birthday for the Deep Eddy Swimming pool. There was swimming, birthday cake, and a band to help celebrate. It got busy inside the pool grounds, so I left out the back gate and took a walk along the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail to enjoy some of the sights.
The Elisabet Ney Museum had its Fourth Annual Ney Day Celebration under cloudy skies and with humid weather today. It didn’t rain, so the bands could play and everyone could relax and enjoy the event.
The moon was beautiful. The straightneck heirloom squash was peeking through the leaves trying to get a look. The roses enjoyed the best view.
Not much going on here. Just getting a cup of yogurt with gummy bears and stuff – yes, there is yogurt under there somewhere. Then going for a walk around the pond at the Outlet Mall on a dark and cloudy evening.
