Red Poppy Festival

Today’s fun was had at the Red Poppy Festival in Georgetown.  The best performances were Kimberly Dunn and Tracy Lawrence.  Chet Garner from The Daytripper also made an appearance to pass out awards for the cooking contest.  The Georgetown square was popping at the seams with all the people out to enjoy the evening.

El Chilito

IMG_1219

This tiny, new establishment on Burnet Road is called El Chilito.  My after work food included two Migas tacos and the Hot “O” Special – Mexican hot chocolate with espresso.  It turns out that there is no inside dining area, you either enjoy your meal on the picnic tables out in front or you take it to go.  I chose the picnic table option, and all was good.

Unplugged at the Grove featuring Ian Moore

IMG_1205

It was a most beautiful night for Unplugged at the Grove.  Ian Moore was wonderful, as usual.  Yes, he did rip through a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain”.  If you are in Austin, check out the schedule on the website and try to catch at least one of these iconic shows at Shady Grove.

Swim at Your Own Risk

IMG_1192-1

I took a visit to Bull Creek this evening after work to see how the recent rains have contributed to the water flow.  It was pumping.  A hiker’s Labrador Retriever attempted to bound across the rocks, and accidentally got swept into and over the main falls.  There was a minor rescue effort to get him back on dry land, but he shook off the water and was back in high spirits before long.  The lady bug hung onto her flower and watched the whole event in anticipation.
