Rosa’s Cafe & Tortilla Factory is defined by Google Maps as a “Fast-food chain featuring classic Mexican dishes & housemade tortillas in festive surroundings.” I think I agree with that summary. I was more attracted by the festive surroundings than I was by the tacos I ordered, however I will give this restaurant another chance with the hopes that I visited on an off night.
That time in Round Rock when you were photographing an awesome rainbow and you used some tropical plants to make it seem like you could be on a beautiful Pacific Island, but you didn’t fool anyone.
Since it rained so much in Austin today, I retreated to the IMAX theater. The Jungle Book was playing and it was a pleasant surprise. You have to wonder, though, is there such a thing as too much CGI in a film even if it is done really well?
What is better than chili on a wet, rainy day in Austin? Frito pie!
Rainy weather today brought the Texas Community Music Festival under the overhang and inside the rain tarps at Central Market today. However, that didn’t stop Kupira Marimba from having a good time. They played their sets of music from Zimbabwe and got the crowd dancing in the dimly lit patio. I always recommend seeing this group of musicians if you can catch them around town for a fun party atmosphere and some lovely African Marimba Music.
Here is the best plan for attending the Austin Reggae Festival. Walk in to the festival and do some people watching. Admire the Austin skyline. Get as close to the stage as possible. Check out the band. Cruise by those dudes with the marijuana flag and the inflatable sofa. That sofa is perfect! Go for some food and make friends with the guys working the Crepe Crazy stand. Order the Chicken Basil Pesto Crepe along with a bottle of Topo Chico. Share a bench with some festival goers and eat dinner. Wander through the pop-up shops and enjoy the setting sun and those two groovy people who brought a hammock. Head back to the front of the stage in preparation for the headlining Reggae band from New Zealand. Snap a photo of the sun as it sets behind the trees that line Auditorium Shores. Rock out to some Reggae music and then call it a wonderful night. After all, the festival lasts for three days and you can always come back on Saturday or Sunday. 🙂
Wednesday evening. Go downtown, take a walk, stroll by the water tower, stop in for an orange shaved ice with sour spray, walk some more, admire the bats flying out in the moonlight, and finish off the evening by creating run-on sentences with too many commas.
