This play by Shakespeare has three more free performances left at the Round Rock Amphitheater. The Comedy of Errors you see here is performed by five actors who move at full speed across the stage and up the staircase in 90 degree temperatures. They are all amazing to watch, and the play is highly entertaining.
Beware Ogre! Yes a very fun loving and entertaining Ogre! Shrek the Musical is the production this year at the Zilker Hillside Theater in Austin. Go and check out the characters if you find yourself in the area through August 13th.
On a rainy Saturday afternoon, what better to do than to drop into Pinballz Arcade? Of course I would search out my favorite coin pushing game – Wizard of Oz. Today I was skilled or lucky, as I left the joint with lots of prize cards. They have all sorts of vintage games to play here and it is easy to get lost in the fun for a few hours as the storm clouds pass by. It is that time of year again. Motorcycles are everywhere in Austin for the Republic of Texas Biker Rally. My favorite event is the motorcycle parade that travels from the Rally site in North Austin to Congress Avenue Downtown. It is pretty special to cheer for the bikers as they arrive on Congress. This year I chose a spot in front of the Capitol Building to view the festivities.
It was 95 degrees today. It was decidedly cooler in the wave pool at Hawaiian Falls where I spent a lot of my time. The heat may have been partially due to that large flaming ball in the sky.
Today was Opening Day for Hawaiian Falls in Pflugerville. The water park was calm, with just a medium sized crowd. Last year, at the end of the season, they were offering huge discounts on season passes, so I bought one. I was happy today that I made that decision back in the Fall. The result was sun, wave pool fun, relaxing in the lazy river, and a great afternoon.
The Pflugerville Deutschen Pfest made for a fun afternoon. Of course my favorite activity was the petting zoo with the little pigs, rabbits, goats, and chickens who just wanted to have a relaxing Sunday. The bands were good. My favorite was a band called The Eggmen, which is a Beatles tribute band. Otherwise, it was a big happy fair with rides, booths, food and drinks.
There was time for another celebration today. It was the 100th birthday for the Deep Eddy Swimming pool. There was swimming, birthday cake, and a band to help celebrate. It got busy inside the pool grounds, so I left out the back gate and took a walk along the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail to enjoy some of the sights.
The Elisabet Ney Museum had its Fourth Annual Ney Day Celebration under cloudy skies and with humid weather today. It didn’t rain, so the bands could play and everyone could relax and enjoy the event.
The Maker Faire is pretty cool. People showing off their talents at making interesting stuff. Bonus points for setting stuff on fire or creating lightning bolts from Tesla Coils. π
