Hey y’all, on this chilly day I am at Snow Monster upping my food photography game. This is a small Coffee Snow Ice with Oreo Bits on top. My personal favorite. Yummy!

Zilker Brewing Company
Zilker Brewing Company has a Tap Room on East Sixth Street in downtown Austin. I stopped in for a taste before boarding my train to get home since they are located within a short walk of the Plaza Saltillo train station. My selection was the Honey Saison – a Belgian style ale. I will have to stop by again when I have more time to relax and try some more of their beers.
Andy’s Frozen Custard
Whose idea was it to put this lovely place just down from the 24 Hour Fitness? Andy’s Frozen Custard is a most awesome establishment! Just take a look at the menu. My selection today was the Triple Chocolate Concrete – “Chocolate frozen custard blended with chocolate chip cookie dough and melted chocolate chip.” Yummy.
Llano Llounge
Yippee! Cooper’s BBQ is coming to Downtown Austin. They aren’t totally open yet, but the lounge area upstairs is having a soft opening and serving bar food and drinks. I tried the Slider Trio and the baked potato and all was wonderful. When they do open (hopefully soon), they will have a serving line where you make your selections right off the grill. The restaurant is a combination of two old buildings and in addition to the lounge upstairs, they will have large indoor and outdoor seating areas downstairs. I am anxiously awaiting the grand opening so we can have another excellent BBQ joint in Austin.
Mambo House
Anyone like Cuban cuisine? Mambo House is a relatively new restaurant in Round Rock that serves up some yummy Cuban food. Tonight’s dinner consisted of fried plantains, empanadas, Chuletas a la Parilla (grilled pork chops, yellow rice and caramelized onions), and tres leches. Everything was perfect, and I will be sure to return again soon.
Chuy’s
Lucky for me, Chuy’s stays open late and they are also big fans of Elvis. Tonight’s dinner was the Macho Burrito special, “A flour tortilla stuffed with roasted pork, green chiles, jack cheese & guacamole, smothered with Hatch Green Chile Tomatillo Sauce”. Yummy.
Voodoo Doughnut IV
Just another night (I really should break this habit) at Voodoo Doughnut on Sixth Street. It’s just me, the American Flag, my Memphis Mafia doughnut, and the guy in the Ironman suit enjoying his doughnut. If you are curious, my doughnut consists of “Fried dough with banana chunks and cinnamon covered in a glaze with chocolate frosting, peanut butter, peanuts and chocolate chips on top!” It is not to be trifled with.

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken
Some pretty yummy chicken can be found at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken. One of the most casual joints in downtown Austin. My dinner consisted of chicken tenders, baked beans, mac & cheese, sweet tea, chocolate chess pie, and vanilla Blue Bell ice cream. A perfect Southern meal.
Louie Mueller Barbecue II
“Please form line.” I got lucky today. Zipped right in and ordered my brisket, pork ribs, and beans. The food was awesome, and the line was short. Louie Mueller Barbecue is the best!
