Juan in a Million

Today’s breakfast was on the East side of town.  Juan in a Million is a Tex-Mex Restaurant that opened in 1980 on East Cesar Chavez, and is still going strong.  I ordered from the breakfast menu and chose the Con Queso Breakfast which includes “Two eggs served any stle with queso, carne guisada, refried beans, potatoes and two flour tortillas”.  I’m pretty sure this is a healthy way to start your day…

Arrival

e3d0dee047f44cb2f79f73bdada55065ad274513

I had hopes for this movie.  It had many pieces, but for me they didn’t fit once on screen.  The lead actors are good, but there is a chemistry missing here.  The aliens are cool, but these days a few CGI aliens don’t make a movie.  A good movie takes you somewhere magical, but this one takes you to a pop-up army camp in a field in Montana.  And lastly, this movie makes you think, but the more I pondered the circumstances, the more I frowned on the decision making taking place.  If you see this film, I hope you enjoy it more than I did.

Texas Book Festival – Rainbow

Let this be a lesson to me – don’t be grumpy when you find yourself about a mile away from your car, with the umbrella in the trunk, and you are walking back in the rain.  You never know when a magnificent rainbow will pop up out of nowhere to put an exclamation point on your awesome day in Austin.  πŸ™‚

Texas Book Festival – Butterfly Fountain

IMG_2265

The Texas Book Festival is the best time of the year to seek out migrating Monarchs.  They typically look for a food source at the fountain on the State Capitol grounds.  They are so much fun to photograph, because they don’t stay on one flower blossom for long, but flitter about on their own personal schedule.
