There was time for another celebration today. It was the 100th birthday for the Deep Eddy Swimming pool. There was swimming, birthday cake, and a band to help celebrate. It got busy inside the pool grounds, so I left out the back gate and took a walk along the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail to enjoy some of the sights.

ο»ΏNey Day II
The Elisabet Ney Museum had its Fourth Annual Ney Day Celebration under cloudy skies and with humid weather today. It didn’t rain, so the bands could play and everyone could relax and enjoy the event.

Periscope Drones and Search Feature
If you follow my blog, then by now you know that I am a fan of the Periscope App. And it keeps getting more interesting. The latest edition provides for Periscoping directly from certain drone models, and the views are fantastic (sample screenshot above). There is also a new search feature that allows you to search for topics of interest, including a topic for “GoPro & Drones”. How cool is that for a relatively new App that just recently celebrated their one year anniversary? You can find more information on the Periscope Blog, and keep your eyes there for the next new feature that comes along. Oh, and can someone give me about one thousand dollars so I can buy my own DJI Drone starter kit for Periscoping? π
True Grit
The other thing you can do when you are not feeling so well is finish the novel you are reading. This time I opted for a classic western called True Grit. Probably almost everyone knows about this story from the movies that have been made. It is about a 14 year old girl from Arkansas who hires a Marshall to help her bring her father’s killer to justice. Read the book or see the movies if you haven’t already. They are all great.
Victoria
What to do when you are at home sick with a stomach bug? Netflix to the rescue. I found this movie called Victoria. It is about a girl from Spain who doesn’t speak any German, and finds herself working at a cafe in Berlin. The most amazing thing about this film is that it was shot in one continuous take. It starts off in a local club at around 4:00 am and moves on from there. The plot is a little out there, but for the filming technique alone, I recommend giving this one a try.

March for Babies
I got up early (for a Saturday) in support of the March of Dimes. The walk was fun, but the ducks at the lake were way cooler. I think they were in search of breakfast, but they were still friendly when they discovered that I was bearing no food.
Caramel Frappuccino
This is a new experience for me. Trying a Starbucks next to the freeway that doesn’t have inside seating. The downside is that the wireless connection out here is lacking. The good thing is that it is a beautiful night to be out on the patio with my Caramel Frappuccino.
