Themes

I have spent the evening researching WordPress Themes, and my head is spinning.  I am using the Reddle Theme, but want a change for my new blog home.  I like themes like the ones shown here.  I want a good theme for a photography blog, probably one column, most likely with a black or dark colored background, and one that will support WordPress WordAds.  I will keep on researching and let you know what I pick for my next Theme.

earthrobert.com

Since my Media Library was filled to the brim, I have opted to try out the Premium upgrade to my WordPress blog.  From what I can tell, this includes the following benefits.

    Β

  • The Media Library is now capped at 13 GB instead of 3 GB.  So you will see more photos from me.
  • Β

  • I get my own domain name, “earthrobert.com”.
  • Β

  • I will have more options to customize the design of my blog.

So look forward to some changes in the near future.  For now, I received the message “We are setting up earthrobert.com for you.  It should start working immediately, but may be unreliable during the first 72 hours.”  I hope this is a seamless process for me and you.  We shall see what happens.

Want Sunsets?

I keep getting out of work after dark.  It is not fun.  At the latest, I should be catching the sunset.  So now, I am using Periscope to catch the rising or setting sun.  Like this person above who was Periscoping while driving in Russia.  Thanks for sharing your awesome sun event with the world!  The most recent Periscope feature adds a live, moving curve that defines the dark part of the world versus the light part of the world on the map view.  If only I could get out of work early enough to see the light side of things…

Log Out of Twitter

IMG_0595

Before you do anything, make sure you know the account name and password for your Twitter account so you can successfully log back in.  If you are totally sure that you’ve got this, then log out of Twitter on the web browser of your choice.  What you will discover is something that might be more entertaining than your usual Twitter feed.  The Twitter people have recently made this happen.  You will get a view of the newest and most popular tweets.  You can also search for key words or hash tags.  For example, if you are interested in art, just type it in and search.  More fun than when you were logged in as yourself?  Probably so – but you can only have so much fun in one day, so log back into Twitter and check out your normal feed before bedtime.  πŸ™‚

No Baggage

Would you do this?  Clara Bensen from Austin met someone on OKCupid (a story in itself as this dude lived in a dumpster for a year) and then they decided to take a three week summer trip to Europe with the clothes on their back and a few necessities stuffed in pockets and a purse.  On the flight out, a flight attendant asked a great question – “What will you wear when you’re washing your clothes?”  Anyway, she survived and wrote a book about her adventures.  I think I know what I am reading next when I finish the one I am working on now.  If I get a chance to catch them in Austin, I will let you know what happens. For now, I am thinking about planning a trip somewhere.
