This evening was the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at the Texas State Capitol. It involved caroling, Santa photos, hot chocolate, kettle corn, art, a small farmer’s market, and live music. Austin people were out in force, having a great time in some beautiful December weather.

la Madeleine
I am slowly recuperating. I went out into the world today for the first time since Sunday. Just a short trip to la Madeleine for some mushroom soup, salad, and tea. I sat by the fire for a while and read my book. It was a quiet and peaceful spot for reading.
Kleenex & Netflix
When you are at home, sick, in bed, Kleenex and Netflix are your friends. Between long naps, I have been watching parts of movies and trying to finish Season 7 of Skins. This show is not for all (be warned), but for some reason I like some of the characters and their story lines. Don’t hate me if you find the material offensive – I tried to warn you…

I guess this weekend is partially a Texas Barbecue trip. I stopped by Black’s Barbecue in Lockhart Texas on my way home. This BBQ joint is one of my all time favorites! 🙂
Mission Concepción
Mission Concepción was my second San Antonio Mission to visit today while I was taking it easy there. The church was open today, and it was most awesome.
Mission San Francisco de la Espada
Mission San Francisco de la Espada is the furthest mission from Downtown San Antonio on the San Antonio Mission Trail. The church was closed today for repairs, but the exterior provided plenty of nice photo opportunities.
