There was a Día de los Muertos Celebration on this rainy day in Austin at the Mexican American Cultural Center. They had memorials, performances, art, crafts, food, and drink. It was a little bit washed out by the weather, but still fun for all.

Raining in Austin
There is some spooky hard rain in Austin today. For now, I am keeping dry at Maggie Maes and watching some football on Sixth Street. They also have some of their Halloween decorations up to enjoy.
Ozomatli
On this warm, humid, rainy night, the F1 race party came to town. The highlight of the party was the band called Ozomatli. They are known as a fun jam band that hops off the stage with their horns and their drums, and joins the crowd near the end of their show. That is when the party really gets started.

Banger’s Oktoberfest
There is a small Oktoberfest Celebration going on at Banger’s this weekend, so I thought I would stop by for a pint. They boast to have the largest tap wall in Austin, with over 100 beers on tap. My choice was a Belgian-style Witbier called “Freetail Rye Wit” from the Freetail Brewing Company in San Antonio. It was very enjoyable as the sun started to set for the day.

Sacred Springs Powwow
Today’s fun was found in San Marcos at the Sacred Springs Powwow. There were some inspirational costumes and dancers in the Powwow Arena Tent at the Meadows Center.
Gridiron Glory
The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum has a traveling exhibit from the Pro Football Hall of Fame called Gridiron Glory. I hope you are a fan of the Dallas Cowboys! I grew up watching them, lived less than a mile from the old Texas Stadium in Irving, attended many games as a fan, and even worked as a souvenir salesperson as a teenager. So obviously, my photos from the exhibit are slanted towards the Cowboys. There is much more to see, and the exhibit will be here until January if you want to come to Austin for a visit. 🙂
Chalk Walk
Today was the Chalk Walk Festival in Downtown Round Rock. There was lots of great art, food, drink, live music, booths and a petting zoo complete with a baby pig. The weather was also perfect for strolling around and checking out the artist’s fine work.
