This hike was much more beautiful than I had expected. Mayfield Nature Preserve had a lot to offer in a relatively small place. I found mushrooms, wildflowers, the lake, a creek, a cave, small waterfalls, and plenty of mud to hike around in due to all the recent rains. Too much fun! 🙂

Mayfield Nature Preserve – Trail Map
The Mayfield Nature Preserve is a great spot for some short trail hiking. It had been raining most of the day, but let up after work so I could take a quick hike.
Clouds of Sils Maria
My favorite part of this movie was learning about the natural phenomena of “Das Wolkenphänomen von Maloja” or the “Maloja Snake”. This is a cloud bank that moves its way along a valley in the Alps and has been compared to a giant dragon or the largest boa constrictor in the world. The scenery in the Alps is absolutely wonderful!
Passport Greece
So, for one more day, Central Market is celebrating Greece with an event called “Passport Greece“. Many items in the store are there as a link to the Greek culture. I had the Chicken Souvlaki Gyros for dinner, and then went for a short walk around the park out back. There, I got to hang out with the trees, ducks, turtles, and clouds.
Free Concert Series
The Bullock Texas State History Museum is hosting a series of free concerts every Sunday for the month of May. Today’s concert was scheduled for outside, but the threat of rainy weather pushed it inside. There were three bands, and they all were very talented. Maybe I will be back for more next Sunday?

Bribery Bakery
Today’s lunch was consumed at Bribery Bakery. This place is unique in the area, as they do not have a set menu, but serve up the daily choices from their glass case. The selection of desserts is very extensive and very yummy! My lunch consisted of a turkey and guacamole sandwich, a chocolate and caramel cream pie, and an iced coffee. It was all great. If you find yourself in the area, and are in need of some snacking, then check it out! Today, they were busy baking up a storm for Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Woodlands Park
I am relaxing near the Colorado River at a little known section of Woodlands Park. The main part of the park has some nice facilities, but if you wander towards the lake and cross a small bridge, you will find a peaceful place on the river. Picnic tables, cool breezes, shady trees, watercraft passing by, and a nice view are all to be discovered and enjoyed here. If you need one of the best stair climbing trail workouts in Austin, then check out the River Place Nature Trail, just across the street. I haven’t hiked that one in a while, so I need to return soon on a non-relaxing day to take on its challenges.
Pecan Street Festival II
It is the springtime version of the Pecan Street Festival! Booths, food, drinks, people, pets, art, live music and more! What an awesome day in Downtown Austin!
