Two rainbows in the same week. I think that is a world record for me. Pretty impressive, huh?

Adelbert’s Brewery
I continue my search for the best Wit beer in Austin. Today’s contestant was Adelbert’s Brewery. The beer of choice was the “Naked Nun”. Pretty tasty! The Brewery specializes in hand-crafted, Belgian style ales. On certain nights of the week, they open up the Brewery for happy hour including games, food trucks, bands, and beer sampling. Check the website for details if you would like to plan a visit.
Vulture Babies are Grown
It has been about 2 1/2 months since the two tiny little vulture babies were hatched in a secluded corner of the buildings at work. If you want to learn more about the Black Vulture, Wikipedia has some helpful information, as does NeoTropical Birds. The babies have grown in size and are no longer shy creatures that sit under a tree or in the corner. They will now gladly greet you as you are entering or leaving the building. I suspect that they will be gone within a few days, but here are some last photos before they leave us.

Art*o*mat
It is raining off and on in Austin today, so I find myself upstairs at Whole Foods eating some soup and salad and watching the storms blow by from the second floor windows. There is this old cigarette dispenser that has been retrofitted as an art machine – the Art*o*mat. Pretty cool. I was trying to decide between Joyce Lyman’s Folk Art Sculpture and “Stick Man – Put together a new friend”, and the Folk Art won because a new friend might turn out to be too needy. I put in my hard earned dollars, pull the handle, and out slides a groovy alligator in a box. Don’t be jealous. Joyce Lyman might make an alligator for you too if you ask nicely…
Hound of the Baskervilles
Tonight’s fun was found at the Round Rock Amphitheater watching the Hound of the Baskervilles. Imagine three actors running around like crazy playing all the roles by themselves in the Texas heat. The play, of course, involves Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson and this time out they are trying to solve the riddle of the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville. The play goes on through June 27th, so check the website if you are interested and find yourself in the area.
Republic of Texas Biker Rally
This evening was the Republic of Texas Biker Rally in downtown Austin, including a motorcycle parade, some live music in the middle of Congress Avenue (featuring Asleep at the Wheel), and extra shenanigans on Sixth Street. It is always fun every year to go down and watch the bikers take over Austin. Everybody stay safe out there on the roads!
Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl and Grill
I think I should just interview for a position at the Bass Pro Shops in Round Rock as much time as I have spent there lately. Today’s trip was for lunch at Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl and Grill located inside the store. As you can tell from the photos, this place is fully decorated as an undersea wonderland, including a giant shipwreck over the bar, two bowling alleys on either side, and schools of fish and several large sharks hanging from the walls and ceiling. My lunch was simple but tasty and consisted of a grilled chicken Caesar salad and iced tea. This place is definitely worth a visit for some food and fun if you like to bowl (shark painted bowling balls are an added bonus).
Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof
Well, old hiking boots, you have gotten a little bit uncomfortable with the slight pinching at the toes and my right heel has been hurting for some time. Enter new hiking boots. The Moab Mid Waterproof from Merrell is my new style. After a day of wearing these, my poor feet are feeling a bit better. I think my old boots just weren’t sized the best for my feet. I have high hopes for the new ones which were gotten for a deal at the new Round Rock Bass Pro Shops last night. I’m sure we will get along fine and share some cool adventures together. 🙂
