It is back in the pool for me. It has been forever since I swam laps, so today’s 20 minute session was taken slow and easy. Hello self – you should be doing this several times a week, if not every day. I don’t listen to self reasoning very well, but now that my first swim session of the year is done, it should be easy to return to the pool and do it again. The cloudy weather made for a perfect, cool day. 🙂

Daytripper
As the sun set on downtown Round Rock, it was time to meet up at the Main Street Plaza for the Daytripper Round Rock Premier Party. Chet Garner, AKA “The Daytripper“, was meeting and greeting his fans, running around organizing last minute things, raffling off free goodies, making sure everyone was fed, taking photos with people, and smiling and having fun the whole time. When it was almost dark, he thanked the guitar player and introduced his show about Round Rock. We all watched the half hour episode with interest for our home town places and its history. If you find yourself sitting around looking for something to do, check out his website for some travel ideas in Texas. If you want to take the easy way, look for his popular bus trips and get some Texas exploring done with Chet as your most capable host.
La Fiesta
This bronze sculpture called “La Fiesta” by Dan Pogue, can be found just in front of the Round Rock Public Library. It is a pretty fun piece of art, and it can be yours for a small price. 🙂
Pecan Street Festival II
It is the springtime version of the Pecan Street Festival! Booths, food, drinks, people, pets, art, live music and more! What an awesome day in Downtown Austin!
Shakespeare in the Park
Austin Shakespeare presented “The Taming of the Shrew” at the Zilker Hillside Theater. The setting for the play was the city of Austin in the 1890’s and the surrounding countryside. So, of course, everyone had to wear boots and hats. It was a fun version of Shakespeare, and the play goes on through the month of May if you like outdoor theater, and find yourself in Austin.
Round Rock Express Game
Today’s fun was found watching the Round Rock Express play the Nashville Sounds at Dell Diamond. This ballpark is a unique one with its own swimming pool and hot tub in the outfield just behind the grassy seating area. The weather and the sunset were just perfect!

Kawaii Shaved Ice
Close to the water tower in Downtown Round Rock, there exists the most wonderful place for an icy treat when the weather begins to get warm again. The high today was 81 degrees Fahrenheit, so an afternoon trip to Kawaii Shaved Ice was the perfect plan. Some coworkers and I enjoyed the oasis-like setting for a short team building exercise. I ordered my standby shaved ice flavor – grape. We then enjoyed the shady tables, shooed off a few small bees who wanted in on the grape action but were too shy to pose for a photo, and had some nice conversations. I will have to remember to visit again soon and maybe experiment with a new flavor next time…
Star Wars: Commander – Update
Anyone remember my blog post from back in February when I shared my nerdy iPad game called “Star Wars: Commander”? Well, I am still playing. I know you were kind of excited when I first started my tiny little base with an initial base rating of 75. As of today, my base rating is 1085, and this helps determine what kind of battles I get into with other players. So far, I have won 309 attacks on other unsuspecting people’s bases, and 43 defenses of my own spectacular impregnable fortress of a base. Now I am assuming that you are totally excited? Don’t worry, I will continue to neglect my chores and other important things like reading books for example just so I can update you with my gaming progress. Yay!
